dc.description	Kitsch is known as an artistic style defined mostly as cheesy, trite, different, unusual and ultimately, vulgar; however pretentious and therefore can be defined as a non-classical culture, well we could finally define it as bad taste. We can not affirm that many of the kitsch manifestations that we can observe in Quito are pleasing towards this style, on the contrary it can be defined as a spontaneous style, where the Quito visual culture plays a very important role in defining what is or is not kitsch; as for example: the altars of virgins or saints in the homes of certain Quito citizens, are carried out not as an element of decoration, but as a vow of faith that is part of the members of that family, this being perhaps a tradition or a feeling inherited by their ancestors. We can even consider kitsch as an intentional style, which is generated with the goal of pleasing the masses, this is where we can refer to the music heard in Quito; where the concert posters are very striking, breaking all the design schemes, in addition the video clips of certain artists are made in common places (like houses, parks), there is a certain style of clothing of the protagonist and the dancers that accompany him. In view of the lack of identification of the manifestations of the kitsch style in Quito, the identification of the same in the Quito homes, in the music, in the commercial premises and in the religious, is carried out, where it is intended to make known how the Kitsch in Quito and how the culture of the city influences these manifestations. dc.description.abstract	El kitsch se conoce como un estilo artístico definido en su mayoría como cursi, trillado, diferente, poco habitual y en definitiva, vulgar; no obstante pretencioso y por tanto se puede definir como una cultura no clásica, bien la podríamos definir finalmente como de mal de gusto. No podemos aseverar que muchas de las manifestaciones kitsch que podemos observar en Quito, son por agrado hacia este estilo, al contrario más bien se puede definir como estilo espontáneo, donde la cultura visual quiteña juega un papel muy importante para definir lo qué es o no kitsch; como por ejemplo: los altares de vírgenes o santos en los hogares de ciertos quiteños, son realizados no como un elemento de decoración, si no como un voto de fe que es parte de los integrantes de esa familia, siendo esto tal vez una tradición o un sentimiento heredado por sus ancestros. Incluso podemos considerar al kitsch como un estilo intencional, el cual se lo genera con el objetivo de agradar a grandes masas, es aquí donde podemos referenciar a la música que se escucha en Quito; donde los poster de conciertos son muy llamativos, rompiendo todos los esquemas del diseño, además los video clips de ciertos artistas son realizados en lugares comunes (como casas, parques), existe cierto estilo de vestimenta del protagonista y de los bailarines que lo acompañan. En vista de la falta de identificación de las manifestaciones del estilo kitsch en Quito, se realiza la identificación de las mismas en los hogares quiteños, en la música, en locales comerciales y en lo religioso, donde se pretende dar a conocer cómo se vive el kitsch en Quito y cómo la cultura de la ciudad influye en estas manifestaciones.
