Resumen:
El barroco del siglo XVIII representa una de las expresiones artísticas y culturales
preponderantes, magníficas, imponentes en el país y en América Latina. Artistas como
Bernardo de Legarda, Caspicara, Manuel Samaniego y Bernardo Rodríguez han sido
destacados en la riqueza de sus obras, plasmadas en pinturas y esculturas que se encuentran
en iglesias y en los museos de la ciudad de Quito, como un patrimonio tangible de la
expresión artística y cultural.
El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo principal generar el diseño de un catálogo de
ilustraciones, la simplificación de forma y el análisis de la morfología de los ornamentos de
la obra de los artistas representativos del Barroco Quiteño en el siglo XVIII para
aplicaciones gráficas en portadas de base editorial. Así se analizan y configuran la
posibilidad de crear gráficas a partir de la conceptualización y el uso de estos elementos
gráficos.
Para el desarrollo de la propuesta se ha realizado un diagnóstico previo mediante el
levantamiento de datos teóricos y empíricos que permiten determinar los elementos más
importantes, los cuales se plasman en el catálogo posterior al trabajo conceptual y gráfico.
El catálogo se basa en un modelo editorial de catálogo a manera de bitácora en donde se
ven reflejados los resultados con un proceso de exploración para plantear las propuestas de
aplicación gráfica.

The baroque of the 18th century represents one of the preponderant, magnificent and
imposing artistic and cultural expressions in the country and in Latin America. Artists such
as Bernardo de Legarda, Caspicara, Manuel Samaniego and Bernardo Rodríguez have been
highlighted in the richness of their works, embodied in paintings and sculptures found in
churches and in the museums of the city of Quito, as a tangible heritage of expression artistic
and cultural.
The main objective of this work is to generate the design of a catalog of illustrations, the
creations of the simplification of the form and the analysis of the morphology of the
ornaments of the work of the representative artists of Quiteño Baroque in the 18th century
for graphic applications in covers of editorial base. This way, the possibility of creating
graphs from the conceptualization and the use of these graphical elements is analyzed and
configured.
In order to create the proposal a previous diagnosis has been made by means of the
theoretical and empirical data that allow to determine the most important elements, which
are reflected in the catalog after the conceptual and graphic work.
The catalog is based on an editorial model of catalog in the form of a log in which the results
are reflected with a process of exploration to propose the proposals of graphic application.
