El presente proyecto tiene como finalidad dar a conocer de forma visual, una de las
leyendas andinas orales poco conocidas denominada: “el amor entre volcanes”. Esta leyenda
se desenvuelve en la cordillera interandina ecuatoriana, abarcando las provincias de
Tungurahua, Cotopaxi y Chimborazo, sin embargo, con el pasar de los años y al ser una
historia oral que no se encuentra en textos escritos, las versiones han ido cambiando según
el lugar desde donde se narre la leyenda. Por ello, este trabajo es una adaptación de la historia
mediante un cuento ilustrado pop-up, llamado: “Más Allá de los volcanes. Un cuento de
amor”.
Para la realización de este cuento, se ha aplicado como referente la corriente artística del
Realismo mágico, tomando como inspiración los cuadros del pintor ecuatoriano Endara
Crow; quien mediante sus pinturas descubre la profundidad de la naturaleza y el lazo que
existe entre leyenda y realidad.
La propuesta busca crear un escenario dinámico en el que las niñas y los niños de 8 y 10
años de edad se sientan identificados con la historia, permitiendo mantener vivas las
leyendas orales.
También se adapta como parte creativa la técnica pop-up que permite al lector interactuar
con el cuento y ser parte de la historia al momento de leer el cuento ya que el factor sorpresa
se encuentra presente en cada una de sus páginas.

The purpose of this project is to make known, in a visual way, one of the little-known
oral Andean legends called “El amor entre volcanes”. This legend is developed in the
Ecuadorian inter-andean mountain range, around the provinces of Tungurahua, Cotopaxi and
Chimborazo, however, with the passing of the years and being an oral history that is not
found in written texts, the versions have been changing according to the peace where the
legend is narrated. Therefore, this work is an adaptation of the story thought an illustred
story pop-up, named “Más Allá de los volcanes. Una cuento de amor”
For the realization of this story, the artist current of magical Realism has been applied as
a reference, taking as inspiration the paintings of the Ecuadorian painter Endara Crow. Who
through this paintings makes feel the depth of nature and the relation that exists between
legend and reality.
The proposal seeks to create a striking scenario in which girls and boys of 8 and 10 years
of age feel identified with the story, managing to keep the oral legends alive.
It also adapts as a creative part the pop-up technique that allows the reader to interact with
the story and be part of the story when passing pages one by one, generating an environment
of interest for reading through the surprise factor.
