dc.description	The packaging currently fulfills functions beyond its initial intention for which it was created at the beginning of time, is an instrument used for the positioning and growth of a brand. In the province of Azuay in the eastern central zone is the canton of Gualaceo, where La Panera Cafetería is located, point of focus for this research. It offers a variety of pastry products, which are delivered in plastic packaging, which generates a large amount of solid waste. This is the origin of the scientific problem that is: How can we contribute to solve the challenge of eco-friendly packaging using the resources of graphic design in the company La Panera Cafetería, during the period 2017-2018?. Faced with this problem, the objective is to design an edible packaging for a line of three bakery products at La Panera Cafetería. The research will aim to generate a new environmental friendly packaging alternative, which at the same time will be functional, attractive and edible. The benefits to obtain will be to decrease the large-scale waste collection. It also seeks to raise awareness about the damage caused by plastic packaging to the planet. In this way it is understood that plastic packaging is a danger to the environment and all species, therefore the design of an eco-friendly packaging, in this case edible, will help to reduce the scale of solid waste in an innovative and appetizing way. dc.description.abstract	El packaging en la actualidad cumple funciones más allá de su propósito inicial para el que fue creado en el principio de los tiempos, es un instrumento utilizado para el posicionamiento y crecimiento de una marca. En la provincia del Azuay en la zona centro oriental se encuentra el cantón Gualaceo, donde está situada la empresa La Panera Cafetería, punto de enfoque de esta investigación. Esta ofrece una variedad de productos de repostería, mismos que son entregados en empaques plásticos, por lo que genera una gran cantidad de residuos sólidos. De aquí nace el problema científico que es: ¿Cómo se puede contribuir a resolver el desafío de los empaques eco-amigables utilizando los recursos del diseño gráfico en la empresa La Panera Cafetería, durante el periodo 2017-2018?. Ante esta problemática el objetivo que se forma es el de diseñar un packaging comestible para una línea de 3 productos de repostería en la empresa La Panera Cafetería. La investigación tendrá como fin generar una nueva alternativa de empaque amigable con el medio ambiente, que a la vez será funcional, atractivo y comestible. Los beneficios a obtener será disminuir la obtención de basuras a gran escala. También se busca concientizar a las personas sobre el daño que causan los empaques plásticos al planeta. De tal forma se entiende que los empaques plásticos son un peligro para el medio ambiente y todas las especies, por lo que el diseño de un empaque eco-amigable, en este caso comestible, ayudará a disminuir la taza de residuos sólidos de forma innovadora y apetitosa.
