Resumen:
La Seguridad y Salud en el trabajo permite no solo detectar los riesgos a los cuales los trabajadores
de cualquier entorno laboral se encuentran expuestos, sino que permite ejecutar las actividades
preventivas de una manera organizada contribuyendo a la productividad de la organización y
preservando la integridad de los trabajadores.
De acuerdo a la definición de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), “La salud es un estado de
completo bienestar físico, mental y social y no solamente la ausencia de afecciones o enfermedades”.
“La seguridad en el trabajo es una disciplina técnica que engloba el conjunto de técnicas y
procedimientos que tienen por objeto eliminar o disminuir el riesgo de que se produzcan los accidentes
de trabajo”. (Instituto Nacional de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo, s.f.)
La Organización Internacional del Trabajo establece que el trabajo decente es “aquel que implica
generar suficientes puestos de trabajo para responder a las demandas de la población, pero también
es un requisito indispensable que sean empleos productivos y de calidad, y que las trabajadoras y los
trabajadores los ocupen en condiciones de libertad, igualdad, seguridad y dignidad humana”
De acuerdo a lo establecido en la Decisión 584, los artículos:
Art. 11.- “En todo lugar de trabajo se deberán tomar medidas tendientes a disminuir los riesgos
laborales. Estas medidas deberán basarse, para el logro de este objetivo, en directrices sobre sistemas
de gestión de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo y su entorno como responsabilidad social y
empresarial”.
Art. 12.- “Los empleadores deberán adoptar y garantizar el cumplimiento de las medidas necesarias
para proteger la salud y el bienestar de los trabajadores, entre otros, a través de los sistemas de gestión
de seguridad y salud en el trabajo”.
En el Ecuador la normativa legal vigente exige que todas las empresas cumplan con los lineamientos
legales establecidos, dentro de las empresas tenemos al sector automotriz que genera fuentes de
trabajo y al ser un sector muy extenso sus actividades directas e indirectas dinamizan el sector
económico. El área automotriz abarca el no solo el servicio, sino que además contempla la
manufactura y el comercio.
Descripción:
Occupational Health and Safety allows not only to detect the risks to which workers
of any work environment are exposed, but it allows carrying out the activities
preventive actions in an organized way contributing to the productivity of the organization and
preserving the integrity of the workers.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) definition, “Health is a state of
complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”.
“Safety at work is a technical discipline that encompasses the set of techniques and
procedures intended to eliminate or reduce the risk of accidents occurring
of work". (National Institute of Safety and Health at Work, s.f.)
The International Labor Organization establishes that decent work is “that which implies
generate enough jobs to respond to the demands of the population, but also

According to the provisions of Decision 584, the articles:
Art. 11.- “In every workplace, measures must be taken to reduce the risks

economic. The automotive area covers not only the service, but also includes the
manufacturing and trade.
