Resumen:
El término “robot” etimológicamente se deriva de la palabra checa “robota”, traducida como
“trabajo artificial”; misma que se utilizó inicialmente hace 100 años en la obra de teatro RUR
(Rossum ́s Universal Robots) del autor checo Karel Capek, cosechando gran éxito en el mundo y
alcanzando sin saberlo la remembranza de una palabra que permanece para la perpetuidad.
Dando un breve recorrido por la historia de la Robótica, nos traslada hasta la época de Aristóteles,
el cual inició con sus ideas de las famosas “herramientas automatizadas”, luego pasa por la etapa de
Henry Ford con sus fantásticos automóviles y seguidamente por Leonardo Da Vinci y su caballero
mecánico, para llegar al siglo XX y observar que los avances hacia la automatización y la robótica
móvil autónoma han dato agigantados pasos para hoy en día contribuir en la sociedad.
Sin embargo, en los años 80 y 90 mientras que en Estados Unidos se crearon robots industriales
como el famoso Deep Blue, paralelamente en Europa y Asia se desarrollaron proyectos con
herramientas autónomas.
Con esta breve reseña se puede conceptualizar a la robótica como una rama de la ingeniería que
agrupa varias disciplinas de ámbito tecnológico, cuyo objetivo es ejecutar tareas de manera
autónoma en base al diseño, creación y mejora de robots; actividades que se han desarrollado
rápidamente en los últimos años gracias al cambio notable que se le ha dado en sus usos y a la
variedad de tareas en la que se la ha incluido.
