Resumen:
El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo estudiar el proceso de enseñanzaaprendizaje de la comprensión lectora del inglés en función al uso de un entorno virtual de
aprendizaje y su aporte en el desarrollo de esta habilidad en los estudiantes del décimo año
de educación básica superior de la Unidad Educativa Comunidad de Madrid. El problema de
la investigación fue analizar las causas por las que los estudiantes no comprenden
descripciones en inglés. Dicho analisis ayudo al autor a diseñar una plataforma que le permita
desarrollar destrezas lectoras en esta lengua. Se organizaron actividades en Moodle para
instruir en el proceso de lectura a través de una metodología con enfoque mixto obteniendo
información de diversas fuentes, como: entrevistas, encuestas y observación. Lo anterior
favoreció para la formulación de conclusiones, las cuales pretenden obtener una visión
general sobre el diseño y futuro uso de un entorno virtual de aprendizaje para mejorar el
entendimiento de textos en inglés.

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study the teaching-learning process of English reading
comprehension, based on the use of a virtual learning environment and its contribution to the
development of this ability in students in the tenth year of basic education of the Comunidad
de Madrid school. The aim of this investigation was to analyze the causes why students do
not understand descriptions in English. This analysis helped the author to design a platform
that allows learners to develop English reading skills. Activities were organized in Moodle
to instruct the reading process through a methodology with a mixed approach obtaining
information from various sources, such as: interviews, surveys and observation. The latter
favored the formulation of conclusions, which aim to obtain an overview of the design and
future use of a virtual learning environment to improve the understanding of texts in English.
